În mijlocul controverselor stârnite de acuzațiile formulate de proprietarul FCSB, Gigi Becali, Victor Angelescu a venit în fața publicului pentru a aborda aceste acuzații, declarând ferm că nu există înțelegeri secrete în cadrul SuperLigii.

Angelescu a criticat și sistemul VAR, descriindu-l ca „second hand”. „Amintiți-mi în ultimii doi ani când a spus că s-a greșit în favoarea Stelei (FCSB). Scuzați-mă, FCSB. Nu l-am auzit să iasă și să spună că echipa sa a fost avantajată!„

Angelescu, the operations manager at the Giulesti-based club, dismissed Becali’s claims, suggesting that such tactics are employed only when his team is at a disadvantage.
„Who are these ‘many’ who believe this? I doubt there are many. These are just Becali’s tricks. I don’t think we should take everything Mr. Becali says at face value. Honestly, I don’t take them seriously. I don’t think Rapid is the best either, but others say it is the best,” chuckled Angelescu.
„I don’t even know what it could have been. In our last match, we lost to them at home. How could you not want to beat Rapid? Let’s be serious. It was a solid match.
